About Recovery Wayfinder
profile with frame.png

Merrick Murdock established Recovery Wayfinder consulting services to help others achieve lasting and meaningful existences apart from the need to depend on alcohol or drugs to manage or cope. Merrick draws from her own experience of seemingly intractable addiction and dependence on alcohol and prescription drugs and developed tools and methods she adopted to reclaim a life free from mood-altering chemicals to manage emotions and daily challenges.

Addictions are habituated behaviors, actions, and thought patterns that seem hard to break, but with the understanding, guidance, and help of Recovery Wayfinder services, individuals gain insight and practical tools to develop daily living programs that boost confidence and new healthy habits that support recovery and personal growth. Recovery Wayfinder coaching is the companion piece to therapy or treatment options that offers first-hand knowledge of the pains of addiction as well as the growth pains and rewards of building recovery lifestyles that work. Think of these support services as compassionate cheerleading just when you need it most.

Ms Murdock has sustained last recovery since 2008, and had the privilege of working in residential treatment, outpatient treatment, and sober living management, in both the private and public sectors, serving as a coach, peer specialist, and counselor since 2015. She is a certified recovery coach (CCAR 2018) and certified peer specialist (Virginia Department of Behavioral Health 2019). Merrick is also Board Certified as a Qualified Mental Health Professional (Virginia) certified in Mental Health Aid and SBIRT (Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment). She has an undergraduate degree in English and Psychology from Tulane University and a long-standing career as a broadcast producer in the advertising industry. Merrick is eternally grateful to her two children who are the biggest champions of her recovery.
